Chambers Residence reworks a 20-year-old South Yarra penthouse, once divided into three separate apartments, and integrates them into a single home. An extensive art collection was the starting point for the design, as such the plan opens into gallery-like zones and quiet pockets that frame individual works. Long, spare corridors are the backdrop for large-scale sculpture and also establish a clear connection from north to south. The circulation is resolved so that moving through the house becomes an experience of the collection itself. What was once a complex, disjointed layout now reads as one cohesive whole.

Materiality sets the atmosphere, with deep green marble, brushed stainless steel wall panels, warm russet tones and expressive timbers creating a rich, textured setting for the art. In the kitchen, stainless steel surfaces catch and soften the light, set against timber floors laid in a herringbone. Vintage furniture is incorporated throughout, contrasting the layered palette and the sculptural forms. Chambers Residence is a gallery-like home, shaped by passion and balancing longevity with practicality.
