ESPLANADE RESIDENCE
Esplanade Residence is inspired by the clients’ classic car collection. The home creates a liveable, gallery-like space. In doing so, it brings the cars’ presence deep into the interior. The renovation strengthens connection across three levels. Each floor also opens to sweeping views of Melbourne’s coastline.
The design works within the existing footprint. The team reshaped the layout to improve clarity and flow. A former triangular void, once shaped around a tree that no longer exists, now holds new living spaces. This change reconnects the previously fragmented plan. At the same time, it introduces perpendicular geometries. These geometries frame long views through and between rooms.
The interior features a warm, neutral palette. It references the bayside setting without relying on coastal clichés. European oak Dinesen boards pair with smoke blue cabinetry. Oil-rubbed bronze, polished plaster, and white marble add contrast and texture. Crafted details enrich the home. Stone kickboards, integrated cabinetry pulls, and timber-edged mirrors highlight precision. Reeded glass softens less desirable outlooks while guiding the eye to framed views of the bay and landscape.
Comfort and luxury define the furnishings. Iconic and locally sourced furniture, art, and décor complement the interior. Soft neutrals and deep inky blues create sculpted settings. These elements sit comfortably against the clean architectural lines. In the end, Esplanade Residence shows the studio’s holistic vision for interior architecture and design.
