High on a sub-penthouse level of Melbourne’s Eureka tower, this expressive apartment meets a vertiginous outlook with warm, tactile richness. The brief was to create a weekend retreat, equipped for entertaining, with an adventurous spirit. The interiors are envisioned as a city escape that is both calming yet high-impact, with hotel-style luxury distilled throughout. A reconfigured layout opens flow and sightlines, for instance the sculptural kitchen turns its eye across East Melbourne, the Botanic Gardens and beyond.

The material language combines lacquered veneer panels with leathered walls and ceilings that wrap the rooms. Calacatta Viola marble anchors a palette of aged bronze, Rosso Levanto stone and bespoke parquetry – deep, saturated colour that grounds the apartment against its soaring altitude. Contemporary and local pieces of furniture and art cultivate a collected sensibility, matched with bespoke elements designed in-house. Chief among them, the main bed: a Calacatta Viola marble plinth resting on upholstered panels, finished with integrated metal detailing and reading lamps.

For all its height and exuberant colour, the apartment stays grounded – a retreat high above the gardens that offers comfort and calm.
